Micro-Wedding at McLoone’s Boathouse in West Orange, NJ
Joseph and Lourdiana have been partners for quite some time, and they met each other while attending church. Due to the pandemic, they planned a micro wedding surrounded by close family and friends. Being a neighboring venue, they decided to host their wedding celebration at McLoone’s Boathouse. This couple loves being stylish, and capturing them together on their wedding day was a blast.
Venue: McLoone’s Boathouse
McLoone’s Boathouse provides a private location to host a wedding which was ideal for this scenario. It is a modern American waterfront restaurant in West Orange, New Jersey located within the South Mountain Recreation Complex. Nearby are some fantastic attractions such as the Turtle Back Zoo and Rock Spring Golf Course. The venue itself has great locations for photos outside, since we didn’t want to venture too far I used the patio and side of the building for photos. In a scenario like this, a micro-wedding, it gets the job done. Backyard weddings, elopements, micro weddings, or “covid weddings” were quite common during the pandemic. For some, it may not be their dream wedding but it provided a more intimate, cozier atmosphere, especially with a smaller list of guests.
From a photography aspect, flash is required indoors! Being that the interior is wooden with some white in between (depending on the room) light modifiers are necessary. Outside the venue was amazing to photograph, the lighting was great and the surrounding areas around the venue had plenty of greenery. Due to a lack of time, we didn’t photograph around the path, nonetheless, we made use of the time we had before sunset. Staff friendliness and the overall vibe were a plus and I would visit on a non-workday.
